Meet Our Leadership
Erik T. Nakos, PE – Managing Partner
Erik is a civil engineer with over 20 years of experience providing leadership and design for projects throughout the United States. Prior to co-founding Conterra Engineering, he was the Senior Project Manager, Regional Civil Engineering Manager, and member of the Corporate Management Team at JVA, Inc. Throughout his career, Erik has demonstrated a commitment to sustainable engineering practices in land development, renewable energy, entitlements, permitting and construction support. Over the years, he has honed his expertise in both the public and private sectors in Colorado, California and the western US managing complex projects, navigating the entitlement and permitting processes and securing approvals for large-scale developments, education and healthcare facilities, and cutting-edge renewable energy installations.
Erik’s dedication and passion is project success through total client satisfaction. His reputation for trust, reliability, and responsiveness puts clients at ease and makes him a consistently sought-after engineer.
JJ Cutler, PE – Managing Partner
JJ brings nearly a decade of renewable energy development experience to Conterra, having started in civil engineering land development in 2011. Before co-founding Conterra, he played a pivotal role at NEI, where he significantly contributed to the fourfold growth of their civil department. During his tenure, he successfully completed multiple utility-scale solar, battery storage, wind, substation, and switchyard projects for some of the largest owners, developers, and EPCs across the country. Before this experience, he had many years of experience developing community solar and land development projects across Colorado.
JJ has led numerous successful projects across various markets, showcasing his expertise in design, permitting, and construction. His primary focus is on client satisfaction, quality designs, and providing great opportunities for his team.
